Spoon play winsome acoustic versions of “The Ghost of You Lingers” and “Got Nuffin” in a Paris record store for pop-up performance show “La Blogotheque”.
The minimalist percussion here makes both songs sound like they were recorded for Kill the Moonlight. If you love Spoon, this is must-watch.
Probably my favorite La Blogotheque in quite some time.

Sleigh Bells, Rill Rill
And another bloodied bandmate in this one too!
David Lynch on KCRW →
Great interview that’s mostly about Lynch’s forays into music. And woodworking tools.
Savage Skulls & Douster feat. Robyn, Bad Gal
This strange little video has two of my favorite things: Robyn and luchador masks. It all works pretty well for this Mad Decent track, but I could have used more luchador. Gonna stop looking at Pitchfork now.
Toro Y Moi, Still Sound
What an awesome way to start the morning with a great video featuring friends and familiar places.
Cloud Nothings, Should Have
yvynyl:
What happens when lo-fi bands with hi-fi talents get to record in the right kind of studio with the right kind of producing. God, this song is sweet butter to my ears. Actually, pretty much everything Dylan Baldi writes is a knockout.
Weird, cute high school kids ‘eating each other’s braids’ video by John Ryan Manning.
You can pick up the “Should Have” 7”...
Jurassic Park Theme (1000% slower)
Was listening to this all morning. Is pretty.
Matt & Kim, Cameras
Say what you will about Matt & Kim, but it looks like they have a lot of fun making their videos.
The Death Set, Slap Slap Slap Pound Up Down Snap
First single from what is sure to be one of the crazier albums of 2011.
Best Coast, Crazy For You
Hrm. This Wes-Anderson-fonting, LOLcat-loving video is just so precious that it really gives almost gives credence to Best Coasts detractors. But I still like it. Especially the part with the cat nip (it’s like weed for cats, you guys!).

Sweet Lights - A Hundred Needle Pins
Shai Halperin’s new vid is comprised of a review of all The Cosby Show intros, like, ever. Being that the show was filmed in Philly played a part I’m sure in his hometown-pride behind using this material, but also - is there anything more nostalgic for our generation, TV-wise? I know me and my family watched this show religiously way...
Boris, Farewell (Live in Japan)
I’ve been watching/listening to this concert on Pfork all day. (Which has gotten me quite a few strange looks in the office.) I’ve seen Boris twice now, and both are two of my favorite concert experiences ever. This video catches the epileptic frenzy of lights, unrelenting drone, sheer epic-tude, and just plain loudness that the band embodies.

I loved this series last year, and am looking forward to see who they bring in to do this year’s crop. In the meantime, vote!
For the suggested songs portion, I put in The Wrens’ “She Sends Kisses.” Can we start that campaign right here and now Tumblr?
Talking Heads, Heaven (live from Stop Making Sense)
One of my favorite moments from my favorite concert film.

Vinyl Sales Increase Despite Industry Slump →
yvynyl:
Same news as last year. Can anyone spot a trend here? C’mon folks. People want vinyl. Why? Because music fucking rules. And it rules even more when you’re listening to it through the sweet, sweet soundwaves of a needle vibrating down a channel and out warm, rich like chocolate to your ears.
One day soon, the music industry will stop jerking off to Lady Gaga ringtones and realize that...
Discodeine feat. Jarvis Cocker, Synchronize
One of my favorite tracks of 2010 gets a sleazy hotel video, which is pretty much perfect for Jarvis Cocker.

“Bastards of Young” and “Kiss Me On the Butt Bus” from 1986. Link via theskyway
Amazing performances both. I still don’t really see why they got them banned from SNL, though. There’s that “Come on, fucker!” that Paul yells to Bob right before the solo in “Bastards,” but it’s really not that noticeable. Maybe it was just the drunken antics in...
